How does it work?
Step 1: Open call for participation in the program
The program “Prospects for Youth” starts with an open call for applications for all eligible countries and regions. 30 potential participants will be pre-selected at this stage and invited to take part in the online matching process. Participants are selected based on their organizational capacities, curiosity and matching potential.
Step 2: Online matching process
The Twinning Program jury will select 30 potential participants of the program who will be invited to become a part of the online matching process via the twinning program webpage. Potential participants will be encouraged to find a possible tandem partner and discuss a common ground for further exchange and collaboration. At the end of the virtual matching process, tandems get formed and they each develop a brief collaboration proposal that will be submitted and assessed by a jury for admission to the program. Future tandems may work on similar topics or have different portfolios. Important is that they identify one common topic or challenge, which they want to explore and work on together. Each tandem should consist of one Kyrgyz and one international partner.
Step 3: Kick-off meeting in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan
Selected twins are invited for a 4 days Kick-off meeting in Kyrgyzstan, where they can follow expert inputs and workshops to prepare for their upcoming internships and develop common activities. All organizational details can be arranged during the Kick-off meeting, which takes place from the 18th to 22nd June 2018.
Step 4: Internships
Internships are the key element of the Twinning Program. Participants receive a financial contribution to spend a working visit with their partner’s organization in the respective country. The goal of the internships is to gain direct experience in each other’s localities and help participants to familiarize themselves with the partner’s organizational context. Internship dates are flexible, although both working visits should happen until the 15th October 2018. It is expected that during the internship the visiting fellow will be involved with the community and the activities of the hosting organization. This includes introduction to the organization and its immediate working environment (e.g. main stakeholders and partners). The visiting tandem fellow presents his/her organization and in cooperation with the twinning partner implements a common activity, which might serve as a prototype and a basis for further collaboration.
Step 5: Final meeting in Berlin, Germany
During the Final Meeting, all participants share the outcomes of their cooperation. This meeting includes evaluation sessions and the opportunity to connect to other professional networks and organizations in Berlin. The final meeting takes place from 5th until 9th November 2018.
